Hi, I'm Tiina Vuorenmaa, and I love color and design.
My favorite parts of design are branding and designing a website to fit a brand. My logical, mathematical side likes to create consistency in the UX/UI in order to evoke a sense of trust, and my creative side wants to make sure designs have meaning.
With a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and a Bachelor of Science in Web Design, I bring elements of both in my work.
I consider design as a mix of math, science, and art, such as seeing patterns in human psychology to create pleasant user experiences, or reusing UI design patterns from the latest web trends.
Finding a balance between the UX and accessibility guidelines, the unique branding and client goals, and each individual's experience on the internet is what I do.
I'm always looking to improve user experiences online and offline. It's in my nature to help where I can.
I clarify complex ideas by breaking them down to basics. While teaching English in Japan, I learned the definition of new words just by asking questions ("Animal? Mineral? Vegetable?").
In the same way that I solve logic puzzles and play video games, I find every problem an opportunity to test and learn. I use this same approach to guide clients by asking questions and providing a range of examples to find their unique solution.
I approach design challenges from different angles, and I will reference different industries for cultural viewpoints and alternative thought processes. My love of math, my time living in Japan, and my travels in Europe showed me to always look for another way.
When I'm not in the "zone" creating designs or debugging code, I am usually taking photos of my cats, the flora and fauna in the local park, or my growing garden. I learned photography from watching my dad and my sister, and I am always looking for that next shot.
I dabble in building LEGO sets and the occasional oil-painting of mountains and clouds like Bob Ross, but dyeing my hair is my constant expression of joy with colors!
